The short answer
In most cases a mobile auto locksmith can cut and programme a brand-new key at your vehicle — no tow, no dealer booking. The exact method depends on your make, model and year, which is why the first thing we ask for is your registration.
Why the registration matters
Your registration tells us the exact key blank, blade profile, transponder chip and immobiliser system your car uses. Two cars of the same make can need completely different keys, so guessing wastes everyone's time.
With the registration we can also tell you whether programming runs through the diagnostic (OBD) port or needs a bench read of a module — and what that means for time and cost.
What the job looks like
First we gain damage-free entry to the vehicle. Then a new blade is cut to your locks, the transponder is programmed to the immobiliser, and any remote functions are paired.
Before we leave, we test the blade, the remote and a full start cycle with you, so you know everything works.
When the dealer genuinely is the answer
A small number of vehicles and key systems genuinely need dealer involvement. If yours is one of them, we'll tell you on the call rather than booking a job we can't complete.
