Five stars on Google • Checkatrade 10/10 • Keys made at the car • A year's guarantee on every key
We only work across Hampshire, East Dorset and South Wiltshire, because every Audi key is made at the vehicle.
Winchester and Eastleigh, Southampton and Portsmouth, the Forest villages, Christchurch on the Dorset side and Salisbury to the north-west: that's the patch. If your Audi is parked somewhere else in the country, a mobile locksmith local to you will be the quicker choice.

Most Audis use a flip key, with the blade folding into the remote.
The A1, A3 and A4 of the last fifteen years nearly all have one, and on older A1s the flip mechanism wears, which we can often repair. Higher-spec models add Advanced Key, Audi's keyless system, and we configure it alongside the transponder so hands-free entry and starting carry on as normal.

The year of your Audi decides how its key is made.
With every key lost, Audis up to roughly 2018 are keyed at the car. On the A4 and A5 that use a module known as BCM2, the module is read on the bench in the van before the key is made, and the A6 and A7 need an extra data step on top. Older A6s and the Q7 have their own quirks, sometimes needing the engine computer read as well. It all takes longer than a simple spare, but it saves a trip to the dealer.
Newer Audis sit on a platform shared with Porsche and Bentley. On these, we can add spare keys, but if every key is lost, only Audi can make a new one, and we'll tell you that from the registration before anyone travels. If you're asking about genuine Audi key replacement on a newer car, that's why the dealer route applies.

Most of the range.
That includes the A1, the A3, the A4 and A5, A6, the TT and the Q3, Q5 and Q7. The older A3 shares its ignition and steering lock unit with that era's Golf, a part with a reputation for jamming solid with the key in it. We replace that unit at the car. For the Volkswagen side of the family, see our Volkswagen page.

Your Audi's model, key type and whether one key still works set the price.
An Audi spare key replacement, taken from a key that works, is cheaper than a from-scratch job, and module work on some models adds time. A firm quote comes from the reg before the van leaves, payment waits until the key's proven, and any extra is agreed beforehand. Bigger faults are diagnosed in person, with a call-out charge for finding the real cause.

Your questions
Model, year and whether a working key survives all count; a spare is the cheaper job. Anywhere in Hampshire, East Dorset or South Wiltshire, we quote a fixed figure from your registration before travelling, take no deposit, and guarantee the new key for twelve months.
Yes. Audi A3 key replacement is routine for us. Older A3s are keyed at the car even with every key lost, while newer ones can have spares added. We also fix the older A3's known ignition and steering lock fault on site. Your registration tells us which applies before we come out.
Only within Hampshire, East Dorset and South Wiltshire, because the job is done at your Audi and long journeys don't serve anyone well. Further afield, a mobile auto locksmith near you can make Audi replacement car keys the same way, and they'll be with you a lot sooner.

What customers say
"I cannot recommend Alec enough. My transit custom lock was not turning. I did not know Alec at this point and called another locksmith. To cut a long story short the other locksmith attempted a repair and then gave up, leaving me with a van I could no longer use. I called Alec who came out next day; he repaired the damage done by the other locksmith and custom made a replacement ignition barrel so one key still does the doors and the new ignition. I couldn't be more pleased. Price was very fair too!"
"Did the work at a 3rd of the price of the dealership and I'm sure to a higher quality, the work was quick and professional. Could not recommend more!"
"Absolutely spot on! After ringing about 15 different companies who said they couldn't help and one company even saying the series of my car doesn't exist I found smarttech who I contacted who could finally help! The next day he came out and I now have access and a new key to my car! Fast and efficient polite service! Highly recommend!!"
