1. Who is responsible for your information
SmartTech Auto Locksmiths is the trading name of Smarttech Locksmiths Ltd, a mobile auto locksmith business based in Southampton, Hampshire. Smarttech Locksmiths Ltd is responsible for the personal information covered by this notice.
For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email carkey@smarttechautolocksmiths.co.uk or call or text 07535 856 003. You can also ask us for a correspondence address for a written privacy request.
2. Information we collect
When you request a quote, our form collects your name, phone number, email address, vehicle details, postcode, the service you need and any message you choose to provide. We also record when the enquiry was submitted. Please do not include sensitive information that is not needed for your enquiry.
If you call, text or otherwise contact us, we receive the contact details and information you provide so we can respond and discuss the work. An enquiry is a request for a quote, not a confirmed appointment.
Website delivery services receive technical information such as your IP address and browser details when your device requests a page or a font. Your browser may cache website files to reduce loading times.
3. How we use information and our lawful bases
We use enquiry information to respond, assess the vehicle and service required, prepare a quote and arrange or provide work. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, or performing a contract when you book a service.
We also use relevant records to manage enquiries, prevent duplicate or abusive submissions, keep the website secure and deal with queries or disputes. These activities rely on our legitimate interests in running and protecting the business, balanced against your rights. Where a legal duty requires records to be kept or information disclosed, we rely on that legal obligation.
Visiting the website or sending an enquiry does not, by itself, give consent to unrelated marketing or non-essential cookies.
4. Who receives your information
Our website and enquiry storage use Lovable Cloud and its underlying hosting and storage providers to deliver pages and process quote requests. Fonts are served with our website files, not requested from Google Fonts.
Quote details are also sent to our business inbox through Lovable’s email service and to the owner’s mobile phone through Twilio SMS alerts. These alerts include your name, phone number, email address, vehicle details, postcode, requested service and any key type or notes you provide, so we can respond to your enquiry.
Information may also need to be disclosed where required by law. External review websites, including Google and Checkatrade, have their own privacy policies; following their links takes you to those services.
Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Details of the locations and applicable transfer safeguards can be requested using the contact details above.
5. Cookies and advertising measurement
Browser caching saves copies of website files on your device and is different from consent to advertising tracking. You can manage cookies, cached files and other website storage through your browser settings; clearing them may affect saved settings or loading speed.
Our paid advertising landing pages load a Google Ads measurement tag so we can tell when an advert leads to a quote request or a tap on our phone number. In the UK and other regions where consent is required, the tag starts in a restricted, cookie-free mode and a consent bar lets you accept or decline. If you accept, Google may set advertising cookies and measure your visit in full; if you decline, only anonymous, cookie-free signals are sent. We do not send Google your name, phone number, email address, vehicle registration, postcode or the contents of your enquiry.
Your choice is remembered on your device. You can change it at any time by clearing this website's stored data in your browser settings, which will show the consent bar again on your next visit to an advertising page.
6. How long information is kept
Retention depends on the purpose of the record: whether an enquiry is still being handled, whether it results in work, and whether the information is needed for accounting, legal obligations or resolving a dispute. Information should not be kept longer than needed for those purposes. Contact us to ask about the retention of a particular record.
7. Keeping information secure
Quote requests are sent through the website’s secure connection and stored in a private enquiry system rather than published on the website. No online transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
8. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can request access to your information, correction of inaccurate details, deletion, restriction of processing or a portable copy of information. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interests and object to direct marketing. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.
These rights are not absolute: for example, some records may need to be retained to meet a legal obligation. We may need to confirm your identity before responding to a request. Requests are normally answered within one month, subject to the extensions permitted by data protection law.
If you are unhappy with how your information is handled, please contact us. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator.
9. Changes to this notice
