For most vans, yes. We replace lost van keys in Southampton on the same day we're called, at the site, the yard or the kerb, without the original key and without towing the van anywhere.
Our lines are open 8am–10pm through the week and 10am–6pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us it's a working van when you call, and we'll treat it that way. Need spare van keys in Southampton for a second driver? Add them to the same visit.

Vans we cover
Transits make up the bulk of our van work, but most of the common trade vans are keyed at the van too.
Mk6 and Mk7, the Mk8, the Custom and the Connect are all done at the van, up to the 2023 models. The older blue-button Transit fob is no longer made, and we hold a stock of them, which makes Ford Transit key replacement in Southampton a one-visit job even on older vans. Worn Transit ignition barrels are another regular call: see ignition repair in Southampton.
The Vauxhall Vivaro is covered for every year; from the 2019 models a security PIN is bought from the manufacturer against your V5C and photo ID. Renault Trafics need exactly the right chip, and we support the van's battery while programming. 2019-on Peugeot Partners and Citroën Berlingos follow the PIN route too. The limits: once every key is lost, a Volkswagen Transporter or Mercedes Sprinter from the 2018 changeover, or a Vito newer than mid-2013, is dealer work. We confirm yours from the reg.
Programming
The blade and the chip are separate jobs, and both are finished before we drive off.
With no key to copy, we decode the van's lock and cut a blade on the machine we carry. Van key programming in Southampton then introduces the new chip to the immobiliser, pairs the remote buttons, and on most vans cancels the missing key so it can't be used to drive off with your van and your tools.

Pricing
Replacement van keys in Southampton are priced from the registration before we set off. The figure depends on the key, the van's security system and whether there's still a working key to copy.
Copying a key that still works is the cheapest route. Replacing every key costs more, since there's lock decoding and deeper security work involved. Every price is given before anything is taken apart; if one symptom could be more than one fault, you hear each possible price on the phone first, then we confirm at the vehicle. Every key is guaranteed for 12 months.

Before you ring
Two things save time on any van job: the right paperwork, and a plan for how many keys you need.
Have the V5C and photo ID ready. A company or lease van needs a letter of authority from the business or leasing firm before we'll cut a key. That protects whoever owns the van, and it's non-negotiable.
If two or three people drive the van, now is the cheapest time to sort it. Spare van keys in Southampton, copied while we're already there, cost far less than another lost-key callout later, and each one is programmed separately so it can be cancelled on its own.
FAQ
Yes, for most vans. The blade is decoded from the lock and a new chip is programmed to the van, so lost van keys in Southampton don't need an original to copy. The exceptions are 2018-on Transporters and Sprinters, and Vitos from mid-2013, with every key gone, which only the dealer can do. Your reg tells us which applies.
Yes. Ford stopped making it, and it's getting hard to find, but we keep a supply. That means an older Transit can have a lost or broken fob replaced and programmed in one visit, instead of waiting for a part to turn up or paying for a newer-style key that needs more work.
Try the spare first. A spare that turns freely points to a worn original, and a fresh key cut to the van's original code usually cures it. If both stick, the ignition barrel is wearing, which is very common on high-mileage Transits. We carry those barrels, so it's normally sorted the same day.
Yes. Bring photo ID and either the V5C or the finance agreement. A leased van needs the leasing firm's written go-ahead first. If the van belongs to a business, a letter of authority from the company is enough. Without the right paperwork, we won't cut a key for anyone.

What customers say
"I cannot recommend Alec enough. My transit custom lock was not turning. I did not know Alec at this point and called another locksmith. To cut a long story short the other locksmith attempted a repair and then gave up, leaving me with a van I could no longer use. I called Alec who came out next day; he repaired the damage done by the other locksmith and custom made a replacement ignition barrel so one key still does the doors and the new ignition. I couldn't be more pleased. Price was very fair too!"
"Did the work at a 3rd of the price of the dealership and I'm sure to a higher quality, the work was quick and professional. Could not recommend more!"
"Absolutely spot on! After ringing about 15 different companies who said they couldn't help and one company even saying the series of my car doesn't exist I found smarttech who I contacted who could finally help! The next day he came out and I now have access and a new key to my car! Fast and efficient polite service! Highly recommend!!"
