Local to Eastleigh
Yes. We're based in Southampton, and Eastleigh is a short run up the A335 or off the M27, which is why it's one of the areas we cover most. As an auto locksmith in Eastleigh, we offer same-day service for most vehicles.
Our hours are 8am–10pm on weekdays, 10am–6pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Ring with the registration for a price and an arrival time based on the day's bookings.

Makes we cover
Almost certainly. As a vehicle locksmith in Eastleigh, we handle roughly nine vehicles in ten, from a 2006 Corsa to a keyless BMW, and your registration confirms it before we set off.
Ford, Vauxhall, Volkswagen, Peugeot, Citroën, Renault, Toyota, Nissan, Kia, Hyundai, Honda, Mazda, BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Volvo, Porsche, Jaguar, Subaru, Mitsubishi and Suzuki.
Fords to 2023 models, Vauxhalls and Peugeots of any age, Toyotas including the newer hybrids, and Renault keycards are all routine: see Ford, Vauxhall, Peugeot, Toyota and Renault. 2019-on Vauxhall, Peugeot and Citroën models need a security PIN bought from the manufacturer, so keep the V5C and your ID handy. People don't realise many newer Kia and Hyundai models need a genuine manufacturer key, starting at around £350.
BMW is fully covered at the car, lost keys included. Audi and Volkswagen are covered for lost keys up to around 2018, and spares after that. Mercedes-Benz is done at the car on most models to around 2013. Any vehicle locksmith in Eastleigh worth calling will tell you where those limits are before travelling, not after.

What we fix
Whatever's gone wrong with the key, the fix normally happens in one visit. Here's what each job involves.
£95 is the starting price for car door unlocking in Eastleigh. We go in through the car's own lock or controls with proper entry tools, so the door frame isn't levered and the paint isn't marked. On a deadlocked car, fishing for the inside handle is pointless, because deadlocks switch it off. See keys locked in car.
Then the car becomes the pattern. We decode the lock, cut a blade to suit, and program a new chip to the immobiliser, removing the lost key from the car's memory where the system lets us. For the full picture, including prices, see car key replacement in Eastleigh.
That's the ignition barrel, the key, or a steering lock under strain, and the spare key usually tells us which. Barrels are repaired and recoded where they can be, replaced where they can't, often from van stock the same day. See ignition repair in Eastleigh.
Copying a working key is the cheapest job we do: see spare car keys. A split case or dead buttons can often be rebuilt around the original electronics: see car key repair.

Pricing
Lockouts start from £95. Key and ignition work is priced from your registration on the phone, because a basic transponder key for an older Ford and a smart key for a newer Audi are completely different jobs.
There's no deposit and nothing taken before the work's done. Every price is given before anything is taken apart; if one symptom could be more than one fault, you hear each possible price on the phone first, then we confirm at the vehicle. Every key comes with our 12-month warranty.
Is the person on the phone the person who'll turn up, or a booking line that sells the job on with a margin? Will the key be programmed to the car, or is it just a cut blade like a high-street copy? And is the price fixed? Good auto locksmiths in Eastleigh answer all three straight away. We check photo ID and the V5C, or your finance or lease agreement, before any key is made.
Coverage
The Eastleigh area spans three postcodes, and we cover every street in all of them.
SO50 takes in the town centre and the terraces either side of the railway, then runs east over the Itchen into Bishopstoke and out to Fair Oak, where the newer estates mean driveway work and plenty of spare keys for two-car households. As a mobile auto locksmith in Eastleigh, a lot of our SO50 jobs are planned rather than urgent.
SO53 is Chandler's Ford, from Fryern to Hiltingbury, with the M3 junctions on its doorstep. SO30 covers Hedge End, West End and Botley along the M27 corridor, which brings a mix of commuter cars, retail park lockouts and trade vans.
Eastleigh sits in the middle of our patch, so the same van heads north to Winchester and south to Southampton most days.
Fareham and Portsmouth are covered too. If you're somewhere in between, a car locksmith in Eastleigh is often closer than one in either city.

Plan replacements, spares or help with a damaged work key.
Bring registration details and proof of authorisation.
Where calls start
A car locksmith in Eastleigh spends a lot of time in car parks where vehicles sit for hours. Two stand out.
Cricket and concerts at the Utilita Bowl in West End fill the car parks for a day at a time, and a key dropped in a crowd of thousands rarely comes back. Locked keys in car jobs around Eastleigh peak on event days too, when cars get locked in a hurry. We make the key or open the car where it's parked, once the traffic has eased.
Shopping trips around Hedge End are a steady source of lockouts: the boot shut with the key on top of the bags, or a keyless car that locked itself while the fob sat in the footwell.
Common faults
Corsa ignitions, Partner and Berlingo barrels, and Mercedes C-Class steering locks.
The Corsa C's ignition tail snaps, so the key turns and nothing happens. A Corsa D that died with a flat battery can lose sync with its body control module, which is dealer software, not a key fault, and we'll tell you so rather than sell you a key that won't help. Peugeot Partner and Citroën Berlingo ignitions are a regular trade-van fault, and the W204 C-Class electronic steering lock fails often enough that we repair them as a matter of routine.

How it's done
Two jobs, both done beside the car: the blade has to fit the locks, and the chip has to satisfy the immobiliser.
Your registration tells us the blank before we leave. With a key to copy, we copy it; without one, the lock gives us the cuts. Laser-cut profiles and the hidden emergency blades in smart keys are cut in the van too.
A blade alone won't start the engine. The chip is added to the car's accepted keys, remote buttons are paired, and keyless cars get walk-up entry set up. Every function is checked with you there.

Vans and trade vehicles
Vans keep the M3 and M27 corridor moving, and a van off the road costs real money. As a van locksmith in Eastleigh, we treat trade calls as urgent.
Transit ignition barrels, lost Vivaro keys and Partner ignitions are all one-visit jobs, and we keep a supply of the discontinued blue-button Transit fob. For a company or lease van, bring written authority from the business.

Keyless security
Mostly, but keyless cars can be targeted with relay devices that pick up the fob's signal from inside the house.
Keep the fob away from the front door, ideally in a signal-blocking pouch. If a key ever goes missing from the house, get it removed from the car's memory quickly; we do that as part of any replacement.

Locked out?
FAQ
No. Car door unlocking in Eastleigh uses tools built to work the vehicle's own lock or controls, so there's no wedge in the door frame and nothing scratched. Most cars are open within minutes of us arriving, priced from £95, and the alarm and central locking carry on as normal afterwards.
Yes, till 10pm Monday to Friday and 6pm on weekends. An emergency auto locksmith in Eastleigh is only useful if it's honest about hours, so: we're not round-the-clock, lockouts and lost only keys jump the queue inside those times, and an early-evening call has the best chance of a same-night visit.
Yes, with the right paperwork. For a car on finance, photo ID plus the V5C or your finance agreement is normally enough. For a lease or company car, we need written permission from the leasing company or business first. Those checks protect you as much as us, and no key gets cut without them.
It depends on the job. Copying a spare from a working key is usually the quickest. A key made with none left takes longer, and some premium cars take longer again because of how they accept new keys. We'll give you a realistic estimate on the phone, so you can plan the rest of your day.
Yes. Every key we supply is programmed for everything the original did: starting the engine, remote locking and, on keyless cars, walk-up entry and push-button start. We test each of those with you before we leave, and the key carries a 12-month warranty, so if anything stops working, you know who to call.
What customers say
"I cannot recommend Alec enough. My transit custom lock was not turning. I did not know Alec at this point and called another locksmith. To cut a long story short the other locksmith attempted a repair and then gave up, leaving me with a van I could no longer use. I called Alec who came out next day; he repaired the damage done by the other locksmith and custom made a replacement ignition barrel so one key still does the doors and the new ignition. I couldn't be more pleased. Price was very fair too!"
"Did the work at a 3rd of the price of the dealership and I'm sure to a higher quality, the work was quick and professional. Could not recommend more!"
"Absolutely spot on! After ringing about 15 different companies who said they couldn't help and one company even saying the series of my car doesn't exist I found smarttech who I contacted who could finally help! The next day he came out and I now have access and a new key to my car! Fast and efficient polite service! Highly recommend!!"
